London Heathrow is the world's busiest international airport. London Gatwick,
London City, Stansted and Luton airports also serve the capital. In
south England, Southampton is the largest airport, while Exeter, Bournemouth and
Bristol airports offer some European
services. All air passengers have
good transport services by bus, coach, rail or private taxi into the surrounding
areas.
* Low Fare airlines (Europe)
You can come to the UK by ferry from Ireland, Spain, Belgium, France, Holland,
Germany,
Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland; and by ocean liner from New York.
Further services connect to other British islands - from the Scottish Isles to
the Isles of Scilly. Main southern arrival ports are Dover, Folkestone,
Newhaven, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth and Southampton.
* Channel Ferries (Europe)
The UK's international high-speed passenger train
service is run by Eurostar. Via the Channel Tunnel, the service travels between
the Gare du Nord in Paris and London Waterloo International station in three
hours, and between Brussels Midi and London Waterloo in two hours and 40
minutes. There are 17 Paris-to-London trains daily, and eight Brussels-to-London
departures. Some services stop at Lille (France), Calais Frethun (France) and
Ashford (England) en route.
